about

Swaai Boys is a New York-based tropical rock and roll group whose music is inspired by an obsession with exploration and adventure. Taking cues equally from Ernest Shackleton and Brian Wilson, Percy Fawcett and Martin Denny, the Swaai Boys‘ sonic endeavors yield gripping tales with cinematic imagery. Their “turf rock” has been featured by New York Magazine blog Bedford + Bowery as well as Time Out New York, The Wild Magazine, PolicyMic, and numerous other publications. In 2013 they released their debut EP Meet the Mysterious Swaai Boys, and over the winter produced a sound piece based on Arctic wind patterns entitled Polar Vortex. They are currently at work on a collection of songs inspired by deserts and coasts.

“Meet the Mysterious Swaai Boys” is the band’s debut EP.

Track Name: (We're Ridin' in Our) Jeep for Two
we're ridin in our jeep for two
through all the backroads of youth

we'll cruise the coast of the river nile
and change our gears for a little while

cause i'm not giving up
its not what i'm used to

we're ridin in our jeep for two
pit stop for the gift shops in timbuktu

we'll cruise the coast of the river nile
and change our gears for a little while
we'll tour the ports of an old hong kong
then navigate through the amazon

cause i'm not giving up
it's not what i'm used to
Track Name: Watumbatu / Under the Moonlight
i'm taking all the dough
for overdue boarding cards
we're gonna fly biplanes
straight through the shipping yards
and for the morning stars

we'll meet the kids inland
around a quarter 'til three
and when the sun goes down
we'll play another round
and put the losers' heads
on the sticks that we bring

and if you wanted something more
you'll probably have to wait through the day

and everybody's free
under the moonlight

and everybody's free
to do what they like

and if you wanted something more
you'll probably have to wait through the night

and if you wanted something more
you'll probably have to wait through the night
Track Name: Poisoned Berries
this could be the last thing that i see
these poisoned berries

our journey to the lost city of z
and we nearly made it

was cut short by my own stupidity
it seems so contagious

i wasted all your precious time with mine
and i hadn't reserved it

oh well i couldn't tell
why your face looked pale

it looks like our own plan failed
and we can't be no one else

oh well i couldn't tell
why my face began to swell

but this could be the last i see
of these poisoned berries

yeah this could be the last that i see
of these poisoned berries
