about

At the apex of a 2013 heat wave, New York tropical rock & roll outfit Swaai Boys present a digitally remastered, monophonic edition of their original desert single 'In the Sahara Sun.'

'In the Sahara Sun' is the first song written and recorded by founder Andrew McInerney for the band. This sonic artifact of the Swaai Boys' history acts as a mission statement of adventure and exploration that inspired the music on the 'Meet the Mysterious Swaai Boys' EP, released in April 2013.

McInerney's refreshing tale of a lovelorn traveler stranded in the Sahara desert is the perfect antidote to these scorching summer days. Pining for an oasis of human companionship, the Swaai Boys' lead vocalist scrawled these lyrics in his tent while taking shelter from a raging sandstorm. His wish is all of ours at the zenith of the summer sun – to be an Egyptian prince, gazing on the azure Nile from the cool shade of the pyramids, enjoying the breeze of palm leaf fans and the idle entreat for a bunch of grapes, finding a languorous harmony with the oppressive heat.

lyrics

well, you're just the type of girl,
i'm telling all the world,
i need to find

and so, with my pack in hand,
i made my way from pakistan,
to find somebody right

"and when I go, you never know,
I might find some other bride"
and she replied,
"you wanna be someone like some egyptian pharaoh's son?
cause in the sahara sun you're not meeting anyone"

and now, its been months since the ishkoman,
i've left my camel in the flowin sand,
with me to call my own

so no, there ain't no one in sight,
but I'll be fine,
lying right here, under the night

"and when I go, you never know,
i might find some other bride"
and she replied,
"you wanna be someone like some egyptian pharaoh's son?
cause in the sahara sun you're not meeting anyone"

i should have probably planned
this trip to a foreign land,
i'm overdone with a year old tan,
and i've realized,
who wouldn't want someone like some egyptian pharaoh's son?
but in the sahara sun i'm not meeting anyone

yeah in the sahara sun, i'm not meeting anyone
